As Professor Emeritus at Texas A&M University and Founder of US Citrus LLC, he has led advancements in disease management and quality control within the citrus industry. Notable contributions include pioneering the 'Clean Citrus Nursery Tree' program and identifying critical threats like Sweet Orange Scab. An accomplished educator, Dr. Skaria has mentored many graduate students, shaping the future of agriculture in Texas and beyond.
As a high school senior, I am deeply passionate about pursuing a career in medicine, with a particular aspiration to become a flight surgeon for prestigious space exploration agencies such as SpaceX, NASA, the U.S. Air Force, or the U.S. Space Force. My drive for academic excellence goes hand in hand with my commitment to honing my leadership skills, fostering STEM education, and actively engaging in community service through and outside of my nonprofit organization, STEMVest.
With a natural flair for mathematics and science, I have already made notable achievements by engineering 3+ innovative inventions utilizing the Raspberry Pi platform. Among these creations are an Engineering Solution to Prevent Hot Car Deaths, an Engineering Solution to Detect Bullying Related Violence (Patent Pending), and a groundbreaking identification method for Malarial Infections from Thin Blood Smear Slide Images Using Convolutional Neural Network. My dedication and ingenuity in these areas were recognized with the U.S. Navy STEM Award in 2019, the Lemelson Early Inventor Award in 2020, the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory Award in 2023/2024, Grand and Special Awards at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair, and many more.
Beyond my academic pursuits and inventive accomplishments, I find joy in pursuing my interests as a percussionist and golfer. But what truly fulfills me is actively volunteering for various organizations committed to providing resources such as food, water, education and healthcare to low-income families, as well as promoting environmental improvements.
As I look forward to my future journey, my ultimate goal remains steadfast: to positively impact the world through my work in medicine, my contributions to scientific advancements, and my unwavering commitment to bettering the lives of others through community engagement.
